International applicants must submit their application documents by the application deadline to the International Office (à address). Please review the instructions on the application form for your program of choice for a list of all required documents.
Please make sure you submit all the required documents with your application!
Incomplete applications will not be processed; instead, they will be returned to the applicants immediately. Your application will only be considered if you resubmit it in full by the deadline for your program of choice. Any failure to resubmit an application on time shall be at the applicant’s expense.
In order to meet the application deadline, you may drop your application in the university’s mailbox at the main entrance by 12:00 a.m. (midnight).
Qualification procedure, qualifying examination and aptitude test
Please be sure to note the following:
In the event that a qualification procedure (Eignungsfeststellungsverfahren), qualifying examination (Eignungsfeststellung), or aptitude test (Eignungsprüfung) is required to determine your eligibility to pursue a certain degree or study a certain subject, you must register to take the test or examination with the school or department responsible by submitting all necessary documents by the deadline indicated. Your registration to take the test or exam is not the same as the application for admission to the program.
When applying for admission to a specific field of study, the official results showing that you passed the qualification procedure, qualifying examination, or aptitude test must be submitted either as an original document or certified copy along with the rest of the application materials. (Please read these instructions!)
Additional information on qualification procedures, qualifying examinations, and aptitude tests (registration, prerequisites, procedure) can be found:
- in the statutes describing the qualification procedures and aptitude tests,
- on the University of Erfurt’s websites describing the various bachelor and master programs, and
- on the website of the school or department offering the program.
If you have any questions about qualification procedures, qualifying examinations, or aptitude tests, please contact the academic advisor in the respective department or the person responsible for administering the test or examination.
Contact person, address, office hours
- On the department advisory office page or
- On the website of the school or department offering the program.
Registration
The following is required to commence registration (German: Immatrikulation):
- the required application documents are submitted on time, in full, and in the correct format,
- the admission or entrance requirements for the specific program are met,
- an acceptance letter was issued to a program with admission restrictions and the student accepted the spot offered to him or her,
- no specific reason exist to hinder registration,
- the costs and fees such as the semester contribution and tuition fees for continuing education program were paid in full,
- penalty fees were paid in full in the event that the standard period of study has been exceeded.
Note: According to §4 of the Thuringian Law on Tuition Fees and Costs of Higher Education of December 21, 2006, Thuringian universities and universities of applied sciences must collect penalty fees from students who exceed the standard period of study. (For more information, see long-term penalty fees)
All previous study periods within the scope of the Framework Act for Higher Education are included when calculating a student’s liability to such charges. Therefore, transfer students and those interested in pursuing a second degree (especially another bachelor’s degree) should inquire about their liability to long-term penalty fees before applying.
German students will receive their registration documents (student identification, proof of registration) in the mail and are not required to appear in person to register.
International students who meet the entrance requirements for their program of choice will receive a letter of acceptance, often necessary when applying for a student visa. Student documents will be issued upon arrival. Applicants for the Technology program should review the information in this explanatory note.
UE students scheduled to complete their bachelor’s degree in the summer semester and who have been accepted to a UE master program for the upcoming winter term should note the following:
Assuming you submitted written confirmation of your acceptance of the spot offered to you by the date indicated in your letter of acceptance, as a rule, your registration documents for the master program will be available at the registrar’s office (“Studium und Lehre” department) when the winter semester courses begin.
Student orientation (STET)
The University of Erfurt encourages all new students to attend the student orientation program, which takes place the week before the lecture period begins.
You will receive detailed information about the student orientation program with your registration documents and at these Websites.
