The Research Center for Social and Cultural Studies in Gotha is a central institution of the University of Erfurt. Housed in the Friedenstein Palace in Gotha, it is closely affiliated with the adjacent Research Library, which contains one of the most significant collections of early modern literature in Germany. The Center is devoted to research into the early modern period. In promoting this research, it organizes conferences and lectures and provides a forum for fellows and visiting scholars.
