Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

 

How can I obtain a list of all previous coursework completed and grades received?

Official transcripts in German and/or English can be ordered at the registrar’s office (“Studium und Lehre” department). Each copy costs 3 Euros and must be paid in cash. If you cannot come in person, you may give another person written authorization to do so.

I am sick. What do I have to do?

If you cannot attend a class or take an examination due to illness, you must provide evidence of the reason for your absence immediately. The standard procedure is to submit a doctor’s note to the registrar’s office (“Studium und Lehre” deparment), P.O. Box 900221, 99105 Erfurt. This department will then notify the instructors and examiners of all the courses you registered for at the beginning of the semester. If it becomes apparent that your illness will persist for an extended period of time, please contact the registrar’s office (“Studium und Lehre” department).

I did not register for the next semester and now the deadline to do so has passed. Will I be exmatriculated?

No. You may still register for the next semester by the end of the current semester. However, you must pay a late fee of 20 € in addition to the semester contribution.

Is my student ID valid as a ticket for public transportation in Erfurt?

Yes, as long as the note “Not a semester ticket” (“Kein Semesterticket”) is not printed on the ID. You must also have a picture ID with you at all times.
