Studium der Germanistik und Anglistik (Lehramt Gymnasium) in Jena, Oxford und London, 1994-2009: wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin/Assistentin bzw. akad. Rätin am Institut für Anglistik/Amerikanistik der FSU Jena; Vertretungsprofessorin in Rostock und Erfurt, seit 2009: Professorin für anglistische Sprachwissenschaft in Erfurt.

Beate Hampe forscht im Rahmen der kognitiven Linguistik vor allem zu konstruktions-grammatischen Fragestellungen zu Argument-strukturkonstruktionen und Verb-Partikel -Konstruktionen des Englischen und setzt dazu vornehmlich korpuslinguistische Methoden ein. Im Bereich der kognitiven Semantik liegt ihr Hauptinteresse im Bereich der Theorie der kognitiven Metapher sowie der Image-Schema-Theorie.

In der Lehre bietet Beate Hampe im BA Anglistik sowie in Sprachwissenschaft Lehrveranstaltungen zu allen Kernbereichen der anglistischen Sprachwissenschaft an: Introduction to English Linguistics; English Morphology and Syntax; Semantics and Pragmatics; Syntax and Discourse; Contrastive Linguistics; Idiomaticity; The Language of Conversation; Topics from Pragmatics and Conversation Analysis; Phonological and Syntactic Variation in English; Construction Grammar; Cognitive Semantics; Motivation in Language; Metaphor in Language and Mind.
