This PhD project follows the agenda of creating a data base by direct interrogation of the Muslim population of the newly-formed German states. The dissertation provides a broad appraisal of the structural presence of Muslims in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Another goal of this PhD project is to try to make a contribution to the exploration of the Salafi milieu in East Germany.
