Social Science Concepts and Measurement: Guidelines For Creating Concepts

Gary Goertz is Professor of Political Science and Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He is the author of 10 books and over 50 articles and chapters on international conflict and peace, institutions, norms, and methodology. His many methods books include A Tale of Two Cultures: Qualitative and Quantitative Research in the Social Sciences, and Multi-Method Research, Causal Mechanisms and Case Studies.

In this virtual event, Gary Goertz will talk about his work on the theory and methodology of concepts for the social sciences, based on the recently published and fully revised edition of Social Science Concepts and Measurement (Princeton University Press, 2020).
