Welcome, Professor Mariana Llanos!

We have welcomed a new face to the University of Erfurt for the summer semester 2021. Mariana Llanos has been jointly appointed by the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) in Hamburg to the associate professorship for "Democratic Institutions in the Global South".

She was immediately convinced by their concept of closely linking research and teaching on relevant social problems - and by the international profile of the students. "Here I see many similarities to the GIGA in Hamburg, where I have been working for a long time," says Mariana Llanos. And so she didn't have to think long when the offer from the University of Erfurt came.
