Lamin O. Ceesay

Short Biography

Lamin O. Ceesay is a Gambian who graduated with honours in Development Studies and a minor in Sociology at the University of Gambia and who holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Erfurt, Germany. He is currently pursuing PhD in Institutional Sustainability in Fragile States focusing on donor funded Community-Driven Development Programs (CDDP) in West Africa. Lamin also is a Higher Teacher Certificate (HTC) holder with years of full and part-time teaching experiences. For the past nine years, Lamin has been working in the field of development. He worked for a number of reputable international organizations and held different positions of responsibility, where he provided leadership. He worked as National Administrative and HR Secretary for SOS Children´s Villages; Programs Officer, West Africa Network for Peace building (WANEP); Technical Specialist-Grants and Partnership for Child Fund International.

Lamin has good professional and academic knowledge and skills of research, project/program design and management, training facilitation, advocacy and funding proposal writing. He attended a number of national and international professional trainings in these areas. He wrote three successful dissertations (not published) as partial fulfilment for his Higher Teacher’s Certificate (phonetics and phonology), bachelor’s degree (Private Sector and Development) and M.P.P. programmes (International Migration). Professionally, Lamin has written and managed both individually and as part of a team many funded projects in the areas of: emergency relief/disaster mitigation, agriculture and livelihoods security; health including water, sanitation and hygiene; education and women empowerment, peace education; income generation, local governance and development; child protection, advocacy and HIV/Aids. Lamin has held part-time and voluntary positions: Adjunct Lecturer for the University of The Gambia, Project Coordinator Commitment Award Project in Gambia, Policy Consultant for EU-Nopoor Project in Germany, The Gambia Red Cross, and M&E Intern at NGO Affairs Agency, The Gambia.
