Almut Mohr

Short Biography

Almut Mohr is a Research Associate at the Franz Haniel Chair for Public Policy. In her research, she focuses on social-environmental movements and energy transitions, particularly coal phase-out processes and with a regional focus on the Global South.

She holds a B.A. in African Development Studies in Geography from the University of Bayreuth and an M.Sc. from the Environmental Policy Group of Wageningen University, the Netherlands. In her Master Thesis, she analysed the Hambach Forest Movement in Germany and the movement’s impact on the German energy transition, especially on the German Coal Phase-Out.

Prior to joining the Franz Haniel Chair at the Brandt School, Almut Mohr held internships with the Energy Watch Group, Berlin, the German Development Institute (DIE) and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. She also served with the International Youth Volunteer Service (IJFD) in Kenya.
