For the expansion of Open Access publications at the University of Erfurt

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is supporting the expansion of Open Access publications at the University of Erfurt with around €111,500 until 2025. The university library had submitted a corresponding funding application for this purpose.

"This is good news for our university," says a delighted Professor Benedikt Kranemann, Vice President for Research and Graduate Services. "Because it will allow us to further advance the transformation of scientific publishing towards open access and make our local research accessible to even more people free of charge on the Internet."

The funding phase will start at the beginning of 2023, and corresponding applications from scientists at the University of Erfurt who would like to publish their work Open Access can be submitted to the library on an ongoing basis. As an open access publication service provider, the Electronic Text Center (ETC) is happy to offer support to members of the university - whether they have questions about the Open Access publication of scientific research results as a first or second publication, about publication fees (Article Processing Charge, Book Processing Charge), about author rights for open access publications, or about Open Access in general.

Open Access ...

... is an alternative form of scientific publishing. Its goal is to make scientific works accessible free of charge on the Internet without technical or legal barriers. In addition to the free use of the content, it should be allowed to copy, use, distribute, transmit and publicly reproduce full texts as well as to create and distribute adaptations of them, provided that the authorship is correctly indicated.
