Regular opening hours again after the turn of the year

The Erfurt University Library plans to return to its regular operations after the turn of the year - that is, from January 2, 2023. This means that the library will then once again be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and will also be open for use on weekends.

Opening hours are currently restricted - until December 23 exclusively from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.. The background to this is that the University of Erfurt - like all other (public) institutions - is called upon to save energy due to the tense energy situation. The library would also like to make a contribution to this. "At the same time, it is our task to reliably ensure the supply of literature for studies, teaching and research," explains Gabor Kuhles, the Director of the university library. "We currently have to operate in this area of tension. After consulting with the university's internal planning group on the energy emergency, in which the student council is also represented, we have now jointly found a solution that attempts to meet both requirements - energy saving and service."
