DAAD Prize for Ekaterina Kizeeva

The University of Erfurt has awarded this year's DAAD prize for outstanding foreign students to Ekaterina Kizeeva. The prize is endowed with 1000 euros and is awarded annually by the German Academic Exchange Service. It enables the member universities of the DAAD to honour foreign students for outstanding academic achievements and special commitment. The award ceremony took place today as part of the Student Orientation Days during the "Welcome Fair" for international students.

Ekaterina Kizeeva comes from Russia and studied Literary Studies in Erfurt. She was nominated by Professor Wolfgang Struck, who highlighted her outstanding achievements during her studies and in particular her academic achievements in her master's thesis on artificial intelligence in literature. These are reflected not only in the teaching assignments she has since been awarded, but also in the development of a doctoral project in the field of digital humanities in literary studies. With the award, the University of Erfurt is also honouring the Master's graduate's extramural commitment in the social and cultural field. Ekaterina Kizeeva has gained a great deal of experience in organising cultural events, including for children, over the past few years - most recently as part of the oral history project "Die kleine Freiheit: Feste, Fotografie, Oral History" with senior citizens from Gotha, which was included in the exhibition "Gotha genial".

The Senate Committee for International Affairs was particularly impressed by the very high quality of all the students nominated for the award this year. To make this visible, all nominees also received a certificate from the University of Erfurt in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their studies. The honours go to: Enikő Krisztina Czentnár (student in the Master of Global Communication), Charles White (doctoral student in Sociology and Music Education at the Max-Weber-Kolleg) and Loise Effah Yeboah (student in the Master of Public Policy at the Brandt School).
