"An der Peripherie? Europäische Autorinnen der Frühen Neuzeit bis heute" ("On the Periphery? European Women Writers of the Early Modern Period to the Present") is the title of four virtual study days to which the Gotha Research Centre of the University of Erfurt cordially invites interested (post-)doctoral students and researchers from the humanities.

The series is led by Dr Corinna Dziudzia (Erfurt/Gotha) and Professor Kirsten von Hagen (Gießen); the dates are Thursday mornings on 02.11. // 14.12.23 // 11.01. // 15.02.24. and aims to use concrete examples to ask, among other things, how much need there still is for rediscovery and re-discovery with regard to women in writing and what the dynamics of forgetting or systematic processes of exclusion and marginalisation might be. Can a re-consolidation of the canon actually be observed at present (Stefan Neuhaus & Uta Schaffers) – or why does the knowledge about writing, scholarly, artistically active women often appear weak, implicit, marginal and peripheral? Or (to use Robert Proctor's words) do we repress or ignore what we could actually know?

The events will take place digitally via WebEx. For details of the programme, please see our overview (in German only). Registration is requested.
