The Gotha Research Library is one of the largest historical libraries in Germany. It preserves an outstanding European and non-European collection of manuscripts, printed works and maps from the Middle Ages to modern times on many areas of science, art and culture.
In the online series "Gotha Library Talks" we would like to enter into conversation with you. We will introduce you to our collections, inform you about current research in our institution, provide insights into our projects and discuss interesting developments in the library field with you.
We look forward to your participation! You can dial in to the respective events via this link: https://uni-erfurt.webex.com/meet/veranstaltungen.fb.
2022 is a particularly eventful year for the Gotha Research Library. We are celebrating our 375th anniversary of foundation. Under the guiding principle "Bücher bewegen", you can expect a series of events on site and online. The anniversary year is at the same time a caesura in the history of the research library and a time of great challenges. We are moving a large part of our books out of the east tower of Friedenstein Palace, where the library has been housed since the end of the 17th century, in order to renovate the building. At the same time, we want to create optimal opportunities for our users in the library and in virtual space to continue researching and working with each other and with our outstanding library objects and collections.
