The lecture series "Gärten: Geschichte, Gestalt, Zukunft" ("Gardens: History, Form, Future") in the summer semester 2021 will end with the lecture by Alexander Thumfart (University of Erfurt). The event will be streamed on Youtube.

The central idea, motif and image of the "garden" are not always harmless or even idyllic in socio-political terms. In the context of developed industrial modernity, the "garden" unfolds a utopian power with more than critical potential. Three garden utopias from the end of the 19th century to the present will be used as examples to demonstrate this societal-transformative energy.

You can find the stream on our Youtube channel Uni Erfurt Live.
