Curator: PD Dr. Monika Müller
In this exhibition, the Gotha Research Library shows precious illuminated late medieval pilgrim reports to the Holy Land, reports of the journeys of the Ernestine princes, travel diaries of scholars of the 17th and 18th centuries such as Johann Philipp Breyne and Ulrich Jasper Seetzen, as well as reports enriched by copper engravings of travelers who traveled to the West and East Indies in the service of the Dutch trading companies. An accompanying book will be published for the exhibition.
