"The truly tectonic shifts in this Church could not be overlooked"

The 102nd Katholikentag ended in Stuttgart at the weekend. Around 27,000 people were there. In 2018, there were three times as many.

The organisers blame the sexual abuse scandals but also the Corona pandemic for the decline. And so not only the serious crises worldwide but also the coming to terms with the scandals in the Church shaped the five-day event. Representatives of the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Erfurt were also present and actively involved in the programme. One of them is Professor Benedikt Kranemann. He reports on his impressions for our blog "WortMelder".
