Short Biography

Martin Wallraff is professor of Church history at LMU München. He was principal investigator of the project “Paratexts of the Bible”, funded by an Advanced Grant of the ERC. He currently leads a project on “book history of the Apocalypse”, funded by Thyssen Foundation. His research interests include the manuscript transmission of the Bible, the history of Christianity in Rome, the history of Christian historiography as well as intercultural theology. His publications include several critical editions of late antique texts (i.a. Eusebius’ canon tables, Berlin 2021).

Martin was a professor at the Universities of Jena (2002-05) and Basel (2005-16), research fellow at Harvard University (Dumbarton Oaks, 2010 and 2012) and an invited professor at several pontifical institutions in Rome (i.a. Pontificia Università Gregoriana 2024).
