BIOGRAPHY

  • April 7, 1963 - September 1, 2016
  • Studied Ancient History, Latin and Classical Archaeology at the Universities of Heidelberg, Augsburg, Cologne and Oxford. Doctorate in 1992, habilitation in 1997.
  • Teaching experience: 1992-2003 assistant and senior assistant at the Department of Ancient History at the University of Augsburg; 2000-2001 exchange lecturer at Emory University, Atlanta (Georgia) USA; since 2003 lectureship and substitute professorship and since 2006 professorship at the University of Erfurt.
  • Scholarships and awards: DAAD scholarship for study at St. John's College, Oxford (1990/91); Fulbright scholarship for teaching and research at Emory University, Atlanta (2000/01); Prize for Good Teaching of the Free State of Bavaria (2001).
