online talk of the BARMER regional office Thuringia with Professor Cornelia Betsch

Most people know relatively well what is good and healthy for them and their environment - and yet they do not always act accordingly. Better understanding the ways in which human health behavior is influenced is the goal of Cornelia Betsch, Professor of Health Communication and Director of the Institute for Planetary Health Behavior (IPB), whose findings can be instrumental in creating the necessary acceptance for difficult and complex health policy decisions (such as the upcoming hospital reform).

Most recently, Professor Betsch's research included health decisions, particularly in the context of vaccination. During the Corona pandemic, she initiated the well-known COSMO survey, which contributed crucial insights on risk perception and trust. In 2021 she was awarded the German Psychology Prize and in 2022 the Thuringian Research Prize.

The 18th BARMER Afternoon Talk will also talk about the newly founded "Institute for Planetary Health Behaviour (IPB) " - the Institute for Climate-Healthy Behaviour. What is behind the statement "climate protection = health protection" and how can science contribute to turning findings into reality?
