In the summer semester of 2023, the University of Erfurt, together with the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, will organize a lecture series as part of the joint project "Journalist*innen und ihr Publikum im digitalen Zeitalter" (Journalists and their Audiences in the Digital Age). The focus is on the relationship between journalists and their audience in digital media environments.

As a recipient of journalistic news, one is often faced with the challenge of recognizing high-quality, professional journalism. Within the algorithmic flood of information, fake news and conspiracy theories can be found again and again. This lecture therefore deals with the question on the part of the audience, who or what one can (still) believe.

Invited are not only students and employees of the University of Erfurt but also citizens who are interested in questions of the journalism-audience relationship.

In addition to the project leaders, experts from academia and journalistic practice will also speak, who will report from their respective perspectives and want to stimulate discussion. They will focus on journalists and their "audience" on online channels, user comments and hate speech, but also on the trust of the audience in the media as a whole.

The event will take place at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, but can also be streamed.
