Digitization of the "Bibliotheca Amploniana" continues

In the project "Digitization and In-Depth Cataloguing of Manuscripts of the Bibliotheca Amploniana", which has been running at the Erfurt University Library since October 2019, 317 of the 977 manuscripts were to be digitized within three years. In the meantime, this target has not only been achieved, but even surpassed: Currently, about 520 manuscripts of the "Amploniana" are available online.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has now rewarded this success with the approval of a second project phase and funding of another 524.950 euros. The target is to digitize all "Amploniana" manuscripts by the end of September 2025. The IIIF-capable digitized manuscripts will be presented in open access in the Digital Historical Library Erfurt/Gotha developed by the Thuringian University and State Library in Jena.
