Presentation training for doctoral students

As part of its academic qualification and continuing education programme, the University of Erfurt is offering presentation training on 7 and 8 September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The workshop will take place online and in German. Registration is still possible until 24 August.

A presentation can make some people break out in a sweat. But that doesn't have to be the case! In this workshop, participants will learn how to use the best storytelling strategies to make a presentation look good. They will also have the opportunity to give a short presentation on their project.

The workshop is funded by the United Church and Monastery Chamber. Therefore, the offer is primarily aimed at doctoral students who are working on a theology- or religion-related dissertation topic. However, if places remain free, doctoral students with other topics are also welcome to attend.

The speaker is Ph.D. John Kluempers. He received his doctorate in German studies (specialising in historical linguistics). He then moved to Japan, where he taught at various colleges and universities. After returning to Germany, he actively used his voice as a news anchor and sports presenter for the English service of Deutsche Welle for almost a decade. He currently teaches presentation and intercultural competence courses in Cologne. In addition, Kluempers is an expert in professional and scientific English and a member of Toastmasters International.
