Covid-19 | Extension of Doctoral Scholarships

Scholarship holders, who have received a doctoral scholarship in 2019* will get the option to apply for an extension of their scholarship duration because of restrictions conditioned by Covid-19. Application for extensions can be submitted as from June 2021.

Regarding problems with the workplan due to the pandemic, scholarship holders are asked to restructure their earlier project plans and try to work on different aspects and questions of their thesis first. By law applications for extension can only made if a restructure of their project isn’t possible and the overall process is sorely afflicted by the pandemic. Reasons for it have to be explicitly explained and easily comprehensible.

Please note: An extension can be requested for one time and up to six month. Information about the form of the application and application terms will be proivided here in due time.

* Scholarship holders, who started their scholarship between 2016 to 2018 have already received relevant information, which are still valid, in May 2020.

Covid-19 | Extension of Research-related Travelling and Material Expenses

Doctoral candidates in the Erfurt Doctoral and Postdoctoral Programme (EPPP) at the University of Erfurt have the opportunity to receive funds from the EPP programme beyond the regular claiming period. A prerequisite is, however, that the funds will be used for activities, which are necessary for the research on one’s own dissertation and which couldn’t be realised in 2020 because of Covid-19. The decision will be based on a case-by-case basis. Potential claims can be made until the end of 2021.
