The social and cultural modernity associated with the first German democracy is often regarded as a rather metropolitan phenomenon, with which the metropolis of Berlin is primarily associated. The exhibition shows the social development associated with modernity in the cities of the Free State of Thuringia, which was founded in 1920. Without local dissemination, without an advocacy of social values even in the provinces, new currents, ideas, practices and values would not have been able to establish themselves at all, in the view of those involved in the exhibition. At the same time, they point to the regional specificities. In addition, contemporary original film posters from the collection of the University of Erfurt will be shown.
