In the summer semester of 2023, the University of Erfurt, together with the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, will organize a lecture series as part of the joint project "Journalist*innen und ihr Publikum im digitalen Zeitalter" (Journalists and their Audiences in the Digital Age). The focus is on the relationship between journalists and their audience in digital media environments.

The journalist-audience relationship is subject to many challenges. It is not uncommon for journalists to be confronted with hate and agitation on the Internet. In this lecture, Prof. Dr. Nina Springer, as an expert, will take a concrete look at what these hostilities look like and how we can support journalism that is subject to hostility.

Invited are not only students and employees of the University of Erfurt but also citizens who are interested in questions of the journalism-audience relationship.

In addition to the project leaders, experts from academia and journalistic practice will also speak, who will report from their respective perspectives and want to stimulate discussion. They will focus on journalists and their "audience" on online channels, user comments and hate speech, but also on the trust of the audience in the media as a whole.

The event will take place at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, but can also be followed via stream.
