Tasks and structural anchoring

  • Advising university bodies and committees on questions of equality, in particular on appointment and staffing procedures
  • Support for the Presidential Board with regard to the goal of a "family-friendly university“
  • Reviewing the implementation and impact of gender equality policies and developing new concepts and measures under the gender equality concept and plan
  • Advising all members of the university on issues of equality and family-friendly higher education
  • consulting member of the senate and “Hochschulrat”, with the right to speak and propose motions. The equal opportunities officer takes part in the consultation as well as in the corresponding committees and commissions of the university concerded with matters of equal opportunities.
  • the equal opportunities officer is elected by the senate usually for a period of three years on the basis of the recommendation of the equal opportunities advisory board. Re-election is permissible.

Equal Opportunities Future Concept

In February 2019, the University of Erfurts Equal Opportunities Future Concept (Gleichstellungszukunftskonzept 2019-2024) was unanimously approved by the senate of the University of Erfurt, and in May 2019, it was adopted by the Presidential Board. Within the framework of the Women Professors Programme III (Professorinnenprogramm III), it was awarded the title "Equality: excellent!“ This fullfils the prerequisite for co-funding up to 4 professorships to which women are appointed.

In may 2018, the senate of the University of Erfurt adopted the current equal opportunities plan in accordance with § 4 (1) sentence 2 ThürGleichG in conjunction with § 33 (1) sentence 10 ThürHG and § 9 (1) no. 14 GO UE:

In cooperation with the regional board of equal opportunities (LaKoG - Landeskonferenz der Gleichstellungsbeauftragten an Thüringer Hochschulen), the thuringian gender network (Thüringer Kompetenznetzwerk Gleichstellung) has issued a recommendation for action on the consideration of equality aspects in appeal proceedings.
