Since 2012, the University of Erfurt has successfully participated in the German Scholarship Programme of the Federal Government and awards scholarships annually to particularly talented, high-performing and socially committed students.

The income-independent scholarship is 300 euros per month. Half of it is financed by sponsors and the other half by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Responsible regional companies make an important contribution to further strengthening Thuringia as a center of education and science.

Becoming a Scholarship Holder

Who can be supported and what are the requirements?

  • (First-year) students of all study programmes at the University of Erfurt
  • Students within the standard period of study at the time of the envisaged funding
  • Matriculation at the University of Erfurt is necessary
  • No selection of students who are already sponsored by another institution (double sponsoring of more than 30 Euro/month is excluded)

Selection Criteria

  • School and study achievements (graduation grades for first-year students, average grades according to the current grade report for students)
  • Social commitment (in politics, culture, science)
  • Special social, family or personal circumstances (including studies with a child, care, disability, migration background, social hardship)

Funding Amount and Funding Period

  • The scholarship holders receive 300 € per month.
  • The payment of the scholarship is independent of income and parents and independent of BAföG.
  • One half is paid by private sponsors and the other half by the federal government.
  • Usually the scholarship holders receive the Deutschlandstipendium for the duration of two semesters. Support for one semester is also possible if the scholarship holder's studies end on schedule at the end of the first semester in which he or she is supported.
  • Start at the University of Erfurt is in the winter semester (01.10. of each year).
  • Follow-on scholarships are possible provided that agreed performance is achieved and award criteria are met.

Application and Awarding

  • Anyone can apply, provided that the selection criteria are met. 
  • The selection of applicants is made by the awarding committee on the basis of the selection criteria.
  • The application for a Deutschlandstipendium is made via the Online Portal DSTIP-BMBF.
  • Access to the online portal is only possible during the application period.

Students at the University of Erfurt could be your specialists of tomorrow. Would you like to compete for the best graduates today? Then become a sponsor for the Deutschlandstipendium!

Private people, alumni, companies, foundations or associations can support high-performing young talents at the University of Erfurt with 1,800 euros a year. Your amount is doubled by the Federal Government so that your scholarship holder is supported with 300 euros per month. The funding period is at least one year and begins in the winter semester (01.10. of the year).
