For the winter semester 2021/22, more face-to-face lectures will be held at the university again. Large lectures can/will continue to be held in digital format. However, only fully vaccinated, recovered or tested persons ("3-G" principle) will be permitted to participate in classroom lectures. The higher education institutions are thereby obliged to check compliance with this rule. Against this background, random checks - by own and external security staff - will take place. University teaching in the winter semester of 2021 is to be structured as follows: The basis is the balancing of the need of many teachers and students to be able to carry out their studies in presence as far as possible and the minimisation of the risk of infection outbreaks due to participation in too many large courses. In particular, students who have enrolled since the 2020 winter semester but have not been able to study on campus and experience direct social exchange and discussion should thus be enabled to study in presence wherever it is reasonable. Of course, we also want to welcome all new students in their first semester not only to the university, but also to meet them in presence. This is offset by the need to minimise risks of COVID19 transmission as far as possible and justifiable, so that all members of the University of Erfurt can feel safe on campus and in the courses and remain healthy. Furthermore, it must remain guaranteed that teaching can be offered and participated in reliably and predictably. For this reason, seminars, exercises, courses and tutorials as well as lectures with fewer than 80 participants are to be offered in presence according to 3-G rules. All seminar rooms with their normal seating capacity are available for this purpose. Large courses (80+), on the other hand, should be offered online and asynchronously. However, there will be exceptions to this principle: Since, especially in the orientation phase and also in the large Master's programmes, considerable parts of the teaching are offered as lectures, but these students should still be able to study in presence, each subject can offer up to two large lectures in presence for the first, the third and the fifth semester respectively. The decision on this lies with the subjects, which select the most suitable lectures based on university didactic considerations. This makes it possible for students to attend at least four lectures (two in the major subject, two in the minor subject) in addition to the other courses in attendance.
For this purpose, we have updated our infection control concept in order to be able to continue to guarantee the protection of students and employees. This also includes that outside of the courses in which 3G applies, the distance regulations and the obligation to wear a qualified mask continue to apply on campus.
Students are asked to first contact the lecturers by e-mail if they need advice. We ask for your understanding that some questions, especially organisational ones, remain unanswered. We will make every effort to clarify the situation as quickly as possible and will keep you informed on a daily basis on this website
