Eduroam: Deactivation of older encryption protocols

On 1 December, the obsolete and insecure encryption protocols TLS (Transport Layer Security) 1.0 and 1.1 will be switched off in Eduroam. The encryption protocols are required for authentication in the Eduroam network, so from then on only devices that support the current protocol 1.2 will be able to connect to Eduroam.

Current operating systems will probably have no problems with this. However, the following minimum system requirements are assumed:

  • Windows: 10
  • macOs/OSX: Version 10.13
  • iOS: Version 11
  • iPadOS: Version 13.1
  • Android: Version 5.0 (**)
