eduVPN system temporarily down due to an upgrade

The University Computer and Media Center (URMZ) informs that the eduVPN system of the University of Erfurt needs an upgrade at short notice because the current version is only supported by the system operator until 30 June. To prevent the system from shutting down, the URMZ is planning the upgrade for 4 June between 7am and 10am. During this period, the eduVPN will be down and it will not be possible to dial into the University of Erfurt network. We ask for your understanding.

As the upgrade also involves a VPN technology change (from OpenVPN to Wireguard), the VPN clients of the users must also be updated in this context. This has already been done for all workstation systems supervised by the University Computer and Media Centre.

Users of self-administered devices and students in particular must do this themselves. This can be done in advance of the planned upgrade. The necessary files can be downloaded and installed directly from the eduVPN pages. The installation files for the various operating systems can be found there.
