Gradual reopening of the reading room of the Gotha Research Library

The Gotha Research Library of the University of Erfurt will be open again for use and visitors from Tuesday, June, 2, with the following services:

  • The lending desk, the reading area with the reference collection and the special reading room Schloss are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the special reading room Perthes-Forum from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • A total of max. 8 users* may be present in the Gotha Research Library. In the special reading rooms in the castle and in the Perthes-Forum, a maximum of 2 people can work in the special reading rooms after written or telephone registration (see the information below) at least two working days before the visit. Time slots will be allocated if required.
  • The workplaces with equipment (terminals, multifunctional device, microform scanner, scanner) can be used in self-service mode.

Please note that the east tower of Friedenstein Castle is temporarily closed for staff and visitors until August 7, 2020 as part of the planned renovation of Friedenstein Castle Gotha. This also applies to the collections of the Gotha Research Library located in it.
