In this exhibition, the Gotha Research Library is showing sumptuously illuminated late medieval pilgrimage reports to the Holy Land, accounts of the journeys of the Ernestine princes, travel diaries of 17th- and 18th-century scholars such as Johann Philipp Breyne and Ulrich Jasper Seetzen, as well as reports enriched by copperplate engravings by travelers who went to the West and East Indies in the service of the Dutch trading companies.

The exhibition is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on holidays May 1 and May 29, 2023.
