The subproject "Voluntariness and Dictatorship - Voluntary Participation in the Neuererwesen of the German Democratic Republic" of the Research Uni Voluntariness invites contemporary witnesses to Eisenach for a citizens' forum.

Under the motto "Make up your mind, colleague!" the GDR state leadership called on all citizens to participate in the so-called Neuererbewegun (innovators' movement). As part of this political mass organisation, workers were supposed to make suggestions for improvements in the state-owned enterprises.

At the citizens' forum in the Auto Mobile Welt Museum in Eisennach, we would like to exchange exciting stories about the Neuererwesen in the GDR with you in a relaxed setting. What experiences have you had with the innovator system? Were you a committed innovator or did you decide not to participate?

At our event, you will have the opportunity to talk to former colleagues and contribute to historical research on the GDR through your personal experiences.

The event is a cooperation between the Forschungsgruppe Freiwilligkeit (Research Group Voluntariness) and the professorship for Modern and Contemporary History and Didactics of History, which also work in the field of contemporary witness research together with the Oral History Research Centre at the University of Erfurt and the research network "Dictatorship and Transformation".
