Opening hours and use of the Gotha Research Library as of 1 February 2021

In view of the dynamic infection situation, the use of the Gotha Research Library of the University of Erfurt remains restricted until further notice.

From 1 February 2021, books published in 1921 and later can be borrowed and returned at the circulation desk at Friedenstein Castle during the following opening hours:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9am-12pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 1-4 p.m.

Many of the services are available online. Members of the University of Erfurt can use electronic services off campus via Shiboleth. You can access research-relevant, valuable and particularly frequently used works from the historical holdings via the Digital Historical Library. Most of the titles can be searched via OPAC or Discovery.

The reading rooms at Friedenstein Castle and in the Perthes Forum remain closed. Reproduction orders will continue to be processed. Books published between 1851 and 1920 will be loaned to the reading room of the Erfurt University Library and can be consulted there.

You can continue to order books and copies of essays via interlibrary loan, which will be handed over to you during the library's opening hours.

Information and answers to your questions can be obtained by e-mail at bibliothek.gotha@uni-erfurt.de or by telephone at +49 0361/7375540.
