Rowena Morse Mentoring Programme enters sixth round

The Thuringia-wide mentoring programme for young female scientists and artists will start in November 2023 in what is now the sixth round: Female doctoral candidates and postdocs from Thuringia's universities can apply up to and including August 13, 2023.

The Rowena Morse Mentoring Programme (RMMP) is a support program for young female scientists and artists at Thuringian universities. The programme is named after Rowena Morse, who was the first woman to successfully complete her doctorate in Thuringia in 1904. The interdisciplinary programme accompanies female doctoral candidates in the final phase of their doctorate and female postdocs in the orientation phase on their individual career path. During the program period of twelve months, specific workshops for further qualification are offered in addition to the placement of mentors. In the context of peer mentoring, the mentees network with (young) female scientists from other Thuringian universities and are accompanied in group mentoring sessions by experienced professors from Thuringian universities.

The programme is financed by the Thuringian Competence Network for Gender Equality (TKG). The basic concept was developed at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena and further developed in the working group Mentoring of the Thuringian Competence Network Equality as a joint concept of the Thuringian universities.

  • letter of motivation
  • letter of recommendation from a supervisor or supervisee

By the way: for interested female applicants, there will be a university-wide information event on the RMMP in online format on 08 June 2023, 4-5.30 p.m. At this event, the mentoring programme will be presented by the programme coordinator, and participants from the currently running cohort 2022/2023 will also report on their experiences to date during their participation in the programme, after which questions about the programme can be asked.
