WISEflow temporarily unavailable due to updates

The software WISEflow, with which the University of Erfurt designs its digital teaching, will be unavailable from Friday, 01.10.2021, 7 pm, until Saturday, 02.10.2021, 7 am.

During this time, UNIwise will implement a new version 2021-2. The background is that this summer, in connection with the Schrems I and Schrems II rulings, the EU issued a number of new regulations and guidelines for data transfer and the use of services outside the EU or services from companies in third countries. Even though WISEflow only processes data in the EU and does not transfer data outside of the EU, the fact that Amazon Web Services (AWS) is used in Ireland and owned by the parent company in the U.S. has prompted UNIWise to strengthen and expand its technical and organizational measures (TOM).

One of these measures, which UNIWise is implementing in the upcoming release, is a fundamental improvement in terms of data protection. This measure is also considered essential to fully comply with the new EU regulation so that encrypted data remains secure in the EU and is also protected from foreign interference.
