Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions remember Abraham as a model of various types of ritual action including sacrifice, circumcision, and the rejection of polytheism and idolatry. Bringing together specialists in Hebrew Bible, Judaic Studies, Islamic Studies and early Christian literature, the workshop explores the various ways in which the figure of Abraham was deployed as an exemplary model whose actions were understood to provide patterns that could be followed by subsequent groups and agents.
