European Conference on Children’s Film 2014 (ECCF)
18th June 2014 – Erfurt, Germany

Since the early years of cinema, children’s films have been enchanting their audiences with magical moments, lovely characters, and exciting stories. They are significant sources of social and cultural experience and an important part of cinematic culture to date. But, despite their long tradition and relevance to children, scientific research on children’s films is somehow limited - or maybe not?
In light of this question, the University of Erfurt together with the University of Tübingen and in cooperation with KIDS Regio is organizing the first European Conference on Children’s Film that focuses on children’s film as a multidisciplinary object of scientific research. Scholars from various parts of Europe will present and discuss their work on children’s films. Subsequent to all presentations, all participants are invited to discuss jointly about the future of children’s film research especially in Europe in order to establish the European Conference on Children’s Film as a regular scientific event.
