The staff council represents the social and personal interests of employees − as related to their employment relationship and place of employment − to the administration.
These members are elected every four years (newly elected in May 2018) and represent all employees including apprentices and trainees, as well as civil servants (not professors).  These rights, responsibilities and even election procedures are specifically laid out in the Thuringian Employee Representation Act (ThürPersVG).
