Silvia Weko

Short Biography

Silvia Weko is a doctoral candidate at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, and a research associate at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) for the project Investigating the Systemic Impacts of the Global Energy Transition (ISIGET). Her research focuses on clean energy value chains, and how actors may attempt to gain or maintain a ‘winning’ position in the energy transition.

She holds a bachelor's degree in International Studies from Juniata College, and a Master's degree in Sociology from the Freie Universität Berlin. During her Masters she worked for the Heinrich Böll Foundation on their global Energiewende project, communicating the benefits of clean energy to an international audience. In her MA thesis she analyzed the individual and national factors impacting attitudes towards climate change.
