The Social Impact Campus is flourishing!

Since 2019 the EXIST project by Prof. Heike Grimm aims at implementing a social and international start-up campus at the University of Erfurt and already records two successful EXIST start-up scholarship teams: ‘Coachingspace’ and the ‘MINTy Girls’.

A lot has already happened for the start-up service this year. After moving to a new office in ‚Haus 38‘ next to the Brandt house building which will enable us interaction und collaboration, yet two successful EXIST start-up scholarship teams can be recorded: ‚Coachingspace‘ and the ‚MINTy Girls‘. The MINty Girls’ start-up project was initiated by three Brandt School students, Nicole Oubre, Sonia Gonzales Tejada und Ariana Barrenechea (now alumni).  The idea to teaching female pupils MINT topics at primary schools and further teach them basics in programming was developed in the social entrepreneurship class and then professionalized in an independent study group resulting in a business plan which was successfully evaluated by the federal Ministry of Economics.

On July 1st, the award event of the start-up idea competition will follow at the University of Erfurt, where a total of 10 projects will be pitched in the two categories ‚general start-up ideas‘ and ‚social entrepreneurship‘. The winners receive cash and coaching prizes which they can use to push their ideas.

Additionally, the digital start-up safari will take place this winter (17th of November 2021), where students interested in entrepreneurship will have the opportunity to meet founders and the most important players in the Thuringian start-up scene in an online game as well as potential team members for their projects.

The EXIST project with the long term goal to establish a Social Impact Campus on our campus is funded by the Ministry of Economics until 2024.
