Welcome Tour Through Erfurt for MPP Students

The city of Erfurt warmly received the new Brandt School students and welcomed them with a tour. We thank the city for this experience: for celebrating our international student body and for an insightful introduction into Thuringia’s capital.

The tour opened with welcoming remarks from the city at the multicultural community center of Erfurt’s Small Synagogue. Gabriele Schmidt, Head of Protocol and External Relations Department with the Lord Mayor's office praised the Brandt School’s international student set-up: “I got impressed by [the] variety [of your countries of origin] as well as the number of new students who mustered the courage to enroll for studies abroad”.

Nadine Oertel from city marketing presented the opportunities Erfurt offers regarding sports, cultural events, and go-to places for young people. The city tour included sights such as the Merchants' Bridge, the Cathedral of St. Mary, and the Old Synagogue – and of particular interest for a university institution: the Collegium Maius, part of the Old University of Erfurt and the Studentenbuse, a former student residence. We thank the city of Erfurt for this insightful event.
