6th Erfurt Campus Run: Sina Müller and Adrian Panse came out on top

Due to construction work at the University of Erfurt, it had to be held on the campus of the UAS Erfurt for the first time. Of course, it was as exciting as ever – yesterday at the now 6th Erfurt Campus Run.

Sina Müller (FH) won the women's race in 40:44 minutes with a clear lead over Janice Richter from the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (43:24 minutes) and Carolin Kirchner from ASV Erfurt (45:15 minutes). Forth place and with that third place in the university ranking went to Jenny-Marie Möhrstedt, who also studies at the UAS Erfurt (45:47 minutes).

There was a favourite victory in the men's race. The winner of the last campus run, Adrian Panse, from the organising University Sports Club Erfurt, repeated his triumph from 2019 and won in 33:07 minutes. The 31-year-old Erfurt native took the lead of the field from the start and left no doubt about his ambitions to win. On the first three laps, the chasers were still able to keep the gap within limits and remained within sight of each other on the 2-kilometre circuit through the park and the adjacent proving grounds. On the last two laps, however, the sixth-placed runner of this year's Rennsteig marathon accelerated once more and extended his lead to more than two minutes by the time he reached the finish. Lukas Wiesecke of the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglaufverein (35:09) minutes and Tim Scholtysek (35:41 minutes) secured second and third place.

The title of Thuringian university champion thus went to the Ernst Abbe University of Jena. Tim Scholtysek from the University of Erfurt was runner-up and third place in the special classification went to Arwed Paul Meinert from Nordhausen UAS (38:27 minutes). A total of 22 students and employees from Thuringia's universities were at the start. Most of the starters were from the two Erfurt universities and the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. 25 other runners from all over Thuringia completed the starting field in the open classification – among them 90-year-old Manfred Baumann from Erfurt.

Rennsteig half marathon winner Roman Freitag, who studies at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, shared 25 laps of 400 metres with "his" Head of Administration Prof. Stefan Landwehr and USV President Jens Panse. The fastest team was the "El-Hellmuth" team in 34:25 minutes - two running enthusiasts who had travelled from Halle and Braunschweig, followed by the "Seitenstechern" – a joint team of students from the University of Erfurt and the UAS Erfurt. The best women's relay team was the AOK PLUS team.
