Research Fellow at the Professorship of Orthodox Christianity

Dimitrios A. Vasilakis is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Religious Studies – Chair of Orthodox Christianity of the University of Erfurt. His research project “Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite’s Reception among Key Thinkers of the 20th Century Orthodox World (Vl. Lossky, Fr. Sophrony, Chr. Yannaras, J. Zizioulas)” is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2022 to 2025. He completed his postgraduate studies (MA and PhD in Philosophy) at King’s College London, after having earned a BA from the University of Athens (School of Philosophy). In the past, he has been awarded a one-year Initialization Scholarship by the University of Erfurt, has completed a post-doc in LMU (Munich) and has served as Teaching Fellow at the University of Athens (Philosophy Department). His research interests include ancient Greek philosophy, especially Neoplatonic philosophy and its reception in the Orthodox East (Byzantium and Modern Greece), as well as music.
