For all Arabic courses offered, students can use the Rosetta Stone programme for self-study in addition to the lessons in the self-study centre.
Textbook used: Al-Kitaab Part One
Al-Kitaab Part One is the second book in the Al-Kitaab Arabic language program and is now available in an extensively revised and reorganised third edition. This book with its companion website develops skills in formal and colloquial Arabic, including reading, listening, speaking, writing, and cultural knowledge, integrating materials in colloquial and formal/written Arabic. It provides a comprehensive programme for students in the early stages of learning Arabic.
Level A1
The A1 course is aimed at students with no previous knowledge of Arabic. The Arabic course teaches the written and spoken alphabet as well as basic grammatical and linguistic skills and abilities.
The course teaches both writing and pronunciation. At the end of the course, students take an examination to achieve level A1. The examination is a prerequisite for taking part in the continuation course.
Level A2
The A2 course is aimed at students with little previous knowledge and builds on the A1 course. The knowledge from A1 is deepened and used as a starting point for expanding language skills and abilities. At the end of the course, students will be able to hold simple conversations on various familiar topics.
