University of Erfurt again sets an example against violence against women

Violence - whether physical or psychological - is still an everyday occurrence for women all over the world. A worldwide campaign is drawing attention to this from 25 November to 10 December, Human Rights Day. Alongside numerous other institutions, the University of Erfurt is also taking part and setting an example with a flag on the main entrance.

Dr Anita Scheuermann, post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Erfurt, is conducting research on violence against women. On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance, she takes a look at the so-called femicide, i.e. the killing of women (mostly) by their (ex-)husbands as the most extreme outcome of male violence against women, for our research blog "WortMelder" and explains why the Day of Remembrance is still important...

By the way: The Student Council's anti-discrimination office will also be providing information on this topic at a stand in front of the Student Council office on 25 November from 10.15 am to 2.15 pm. There will be information material, stickers and a quiz. This is also the start of a cooperation project between the Student Council of the University of Applied Sciences and the University of Erfurt. Feminist arts are to be collected as part of the project until 15.02.2023. The plan is to exhibit and auction them on 8 March 203, International Women's Day. The proceeds will go to various organisations that work for the equality of women.
