German sign language (basic course)
In the beginners' course, you will get used to communicating with each other without a voice through visual communication exercises. You will learn how to hold simple conversations in DGS, for example how to start a conversation with a greeting and how to use the finger alphabet as a communication aid. You will also gain an insight into the structure of simple sentences and sentence combinations. To link this exercise to your studies, you will receive an introduction to deaf culture and the sign language community. The number of participants is limited to 15, a letter of motivation is required for admission to the seminar.
German sign language (advanced course)
DGS is dedicated to the use of facial expressions and the gesture space: you will learn to describe facts more precisely with the help of facial expressions. You will also learn how to formulate decision questions using facial expressions. You will learn how to indicate possession and ownership in DGS. You will get to know another interrogative sentence, the W questions. You will also practise using classifiers to describe people and objects. Participant prerequisite: DGS for beginners (please specify the relevant semester)
