This scholarly study deals with Paul's texts in two collections of his letters and with the different images of Paul that emerge from the two collections. More fundamentally, this study is concerned with the changes that the image of Paul underwent in the course of the 2nd century. It examines the image of Paul that emerges from the oldest collection of ten Paul letters named by witnesses and compares it with the image that emerges from the 14 Paul letters found in the canonical New Testament, but above all how the image changed through various adaptations: from Paul to Saul.

This volume completes Markus Vinzent's tetralogy of scholarly studies on the origins of the New Testament.
