Enrolment for English courses: Remaining course places

In the 2026/27 winter term, English course places will be allocated exclusively via the new course allocation system, MOSES.

Do you already have a course place?

You must attend the first session. If you do not attend and have not informed the lecturer in advance and provided a valid excuse (e.g. illness with a doctor’s certificate), you will lose your place on the course.

Have you been given a course place but would like to change courses?

Return your current course place using the “von der Wahl zurücktreten” option in MOSES. You can then register for another course with available places on Friday, 16 October 2026. A place in your preferred course cannot be guaranteed.

Haven’t secured a place yet?

You may attend the first session of a course if there are still places available. However, attending does not guarantee you a place. Registration for the remaining places will take place exclusively via MOSES on Friday 16 October 2026, from 00:00 to 23:59. Course places are allocated fairly and transparently via MOSES, not on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. You will only be added to the course’s Moodle room once you have officially been allocated a place via MOSES. Please do not contact lecturers regarding available course places. These are allocated exclusively via MOSES.

Don’t have a DPT result yet?

Register now for the final session of the English Placement Test (DPT) on Friday, 16 October 2026, at 1.00 pm. You will receive your result immediately after the test and can use it to register for available course places via MOSES on the very same day.

Information and recommendations for students in the BA International Relations programme

Students must provide proof of English language proficiency at B2 level at the start of their degree programme. If this is not explicitly stated on the Abitur certificate, it must be proven via externally acquired international language certificates. To have your language certificate recognised, please send a copy of it via email to the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences:

Information and recommendations for students in the MA Applied Linguistics programme

Students on this degree programme must demonstrate English language proficiency at C1 level (reading and listening comprehension). We recommend participation in English courses to prepare for the C1 examination.

Guidelines and Recommendations for Students Planning to Study Abroad During the 2027/28 Winter Semester

The Language Center at the University of Erfurt would like to inform all students who will be entering their third semester (Winter Semester 2026/27) that a free English placement test (DPT) will be offered as part of the orientation week from October 5–9, 2026.

Students who are planning to spend a semester abroad during the 2027/28 winter semester for the following academic year must take this test, unless they can provide an external, fee-based, and internationally recognized certificate demonstrating at least a B2 level of English. This test qualifies students to take the university’s internal B2-level English proficiency exam in February 2027, which is recognized by most of our partner universities abroad. 

Enrollment in a preparatory B2 English language course is strongly recommended.
